Wedding Teaser Trailer Guide: What It Is, How Much It Costs & Why You Need One

TL;DR — A wedding teaser is a 60–90 second social-first cut, usually delivered within 5 working days. It costs £500–£2,000 as an add-on to your main package. It's the first thing your guests, family, and Instagram followers will see from your wedding day — and it should make them gasp.

You'll wait weeks or months for your full highlight film. But your wedding high is still fresh right now, today, this week. A teaser trailer is the fastest way to share that feeling while it's still electric. At Make It Real, we treat the teaser like a short film in its own right — built to stop the scroll, trigger the tears, and give you 3–4 frames you'll screenshot and use forever.

What Is a Wedding Teaser Trailer?

A wedding teaser is a short-form video cut from your wedding footage, typically 60 to 90 seconds long. It is not your highlight film. It is not a clip from your ceremony. It is a deliberately crafted, music-led moment reel — designed to land on Instagram Reels, TikTok, and WhatsApp in the days immediately after your wedding.

The teaser exists for 3 reasons:

  1. To give you something shareable within days, not months.
  2. To build anticipation for your full film — it's the trailer for your cinematic story.
  3. To capture emotion at peak freshness, before guests have already moved on.

Most couples receive their highlight film between 6 and 12 weeks after the wedding. The teaser bridges that gap. At 5 working days average turnaround, it hits when your memories are still vivid and your feed is still full of wedding-day congratulations.

Teaser Length: Why 60–90 Seconds Is the Sweet Spot

The internet has an attention problem. The average video watch-through rate drops dramatically past 60 seconds on most social platforms. Wedding teasers that run to 3 minutes get watched like trailers — people skip through, they don't absorb. At 60–90 seconds, you can:

  • Open with a single strong image or sound bite (the vow, the laugh, the first look reaction)
  • Build through 5–8 moments from the day
  • Land on one outro frame — a kiss, a dance, a detail shot — that sticks

We cut teasers at 9:16 vertical for Reels and TikTok and also deliver a 16:9 widescreen version for sharing via WhatsApp and on YouTube Shorts. That's 2 exports as standard in our teaser add-on.

Wedding Teaser Price: What to Expect in the UK

Teaser Format Length Turnaround Typical UK Price Best Use
Social Teaser (add-on) 60–90s 3–5 working days £500–£900 Instagram Reels, TikTok, WhatsApp
Premium Teaser (add-on) 90s–2 min 5–7 working days £900–£1,500 Reels + website embed + YouTube
Cinematic Teaser (standalone) 60–90s 5 working days £1,500–£2,000 Destination weddings, editorial couples

As a rule of thumb: if your total wedding film package is under £2,000, a teaser add-on at the lower end of this range (£500–£700) is proportionate. For luxury or destination packages in the £3,000–£6,000 range, a premium teaser at £1,200–£2,000 reflects the production value of the day.

The standalone teaser at £1,500–£2,000 is for couples who want only a teaser — no highlight film, no full ceremony recording. This is rare but increasingly popular with couples who are very social-media-conscious and plan to share professional content for years.

What Does a Teaser Include?

Our standard teaser add-on includes:

  • 1 licensed music track (you choose from a curated shortlist)
  • Colour grade matching your overall film
  • 1 round of revisions (music swap or moment swap)
  • Vertical 9:16 export (Reels/TikTok ready)
  • Widescreen 16:9 export (WhatsApp/YouTube ready)
  • Private online delivery link — no watermark

What it does not include: subtitles, branded intro cards, or a second music track. Those can be added at cost. If you want a branded teaser with your names and date in a motion graphic title, budget an extra £150–£250.

The Teaser Production Process: Day 1 to Delivery

Here is exactly how our 5-day teaser process works:

  1. Day 1 — Footage review: Our editor selects 15–20 candidate moments from the full day's footage. We prioritise emotion, movement, and visual interest: first looks, vow reactions, guests crying, confetti, first dance energy.
  2. Day 2 — Music sync: We cut to the track's natural rhythm. Drops, builds, and tempo changes map to visual moments. This is where a teaser lives or dies — the sync has to feel inevitable.
  3. Day 3 — Colour and sound: Grade applied, audio levels balanced. Ambient sound is often layered under the music to add warmth — a laugh, a cheer, a whispered vow.
  4. Day 4 — Internal review: A second editor watches cold and flags anything that feels off. No exceptions.
  5. Day 5 — Delivery: You receive your private download link. We ask for feedback within 48 hours if you want changes.

When to Upgrade Your Teaser

Consider a premium teaser (£900–£2,000) if any of the following apply:

  • Your venue is visually spectacular and deserves to be shown at its best
  • You have a large following (2,000+ on Instagram) and want the Reels to perform
  • You're a content creator or public figure and this is part of your brand
  • Your wedding is a destination event and you want to capture the location
  • You want both a teaser and a 30-second social cut for Stories (see our Social Cuts Guide)

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a wedding teaser take to edit?

Our standard turnaround is 5 working days from footage handoff. Rush delivery in 2–3 working days is available for an additional £150–£200. We cannot guarantee rush delivery during peak season (May–September).

Can I choose the music for my teaser?

Yes. We provide a shortlist of 10–15 licensed tracks across different moods (cinematic, romantic, upbeat, acoustic). You pick 1–2 favourites and we'll confirm which works best with your footage. Using your own song is possible only if you hold a sync licence or we can source one — we cannot use unlicensed music and maintain commercial use rights.

Is the teaser included in my package or is it an add-on?

The teaser is an add-on in all standard packages. Some bespoke packages include a teaser at no extra cost — confirm with your coordinator at booking. If in doubt, ask before you sign.

Can I post the teaser on Instagram before the full film is ready?

Absolutely — that's exactly what it's for. You own the delivered files. You can post immediately, share privately, or hold until your first anniversary. Our only ask: please credit @mktrlwedding in your caption.

What's the difference between a teaser and a highlight film?

A teaser is 60–90 seconds and optimised for social media. A highlight film is typically 3–6 minutes and tells the full emotional arc of your day. The teaser is the trailer; the highlight is the film. See our Feature Film vs Highlight guide for a full breakdown.

Can I get a teaser if I didn't book a full videography package?

In some cases, yes. If you have existing footage (e.g., from a photographer's behind-the-scenes video or a family member's camera), we can cut a teaser from supplied footage. Pricing starts at £600 for supplied-footage editing. Contact us to discuss.

Do you deliver the teaser in vertical format for TikTok?

Yes. Every teaser includes a 9:16 vertical export as standard. We frame shots during filming with social delivery in mind, so you're not getting a cropped widescreen — you're getting a properly composed vertical cut.
